1jdp) The technology I plan to utilize for my change project is with use of a cell phone. It is a simple intervention that does not require downloading any applications- it is merely just text-messaging based education and support. The part that is nice about use of this technology is it is not new, most people have plenty of experience with this form of technology and therefore it would be something easy to use, accessible, and user-friendly for most educational levels. The way we would utilize this technology is to send weekly text messages, with reminders about treatment, lifestyle changes, education, and reminders of appointments with their providers (Moyano et al., 2018). I would have someone on the other end of these messages ready to answer questions if any presented themselves, because we tend to forget the questions we want to ask our provider when we get there. Barriers to implementing this could be if the patient is unable to afford a cell phone or is not technologically savvy. Unfortunately, they would not be able to participate in the text messaging intervention (unless able to learn how to use the cell phone), however my project also includes health coaching which is an option for those without the cell phone.

2). Have you seen a piece of technology implemented at your facility? Was it successful? What made it successful or what were the barriers to its implementation?

3 LG). Technology in the healthcare field has come a long way and has greatly improved the quality of patient care that is provided. Advances can be realized from the diagnostic tools used, to innovative treatments and even how the procedures are done with little to no down time on some occasions. Barriers of distance are eliminated with remote consultations, increasing better outcomes and the patients’ health status due to the time savings and the collaboration made possible sooner than later. Electronic medical health records have made patient history easier to access and are portable, giving details of current medications, surgical procedures, allergies, etc. Improvement in patient care through 3-D printing technology is the ability to create customizable prosthetics, and personalized appliances for hearing, oral, mobility, etc. Today more than ever, the ability for patients and their medical team to check in with each other through video teleconferencing called Telehealth, which also has the ability to upload and monitor personal date like current blood pressures or glucose checks. Conferencing in this manner can speed up treatment, diagnose a problem, and monitor current conditions, etc. Technology is a big part of healthcare by lowering costs, increasing efficiency, and making healthcare more accessible (Jones, 2018).

Technology that would be great to utilize for an educational PowerPoint would be the use of an overhead projector. That way the audience can easily read the slides, while focusing on the presentation and not be distracted wondering where they are in the handout. If I am not able to have the use of room that has a projector, I will have to do my best to keep everyone on the same page in the handout that I plan to provide, and perhaps add the use of posters to outline the important points to remember from the presentation.
