Do you believe that Kierkegaard is right and that faith can only work as a deep, meaningful relationship with a god?
It is a reaction paper about intro of philosophy.
Requirement: Periodic reaction
papers (to be handed in by the end of each section) contribute to the bulk of
your grade for this course. Papers ought
to be 5-7 typed (and double spaced pages) on your thoughts about the article
assigned that unit. You can discuss
issues that we brought up in the previous class or (if you speak to me ahead of
time) follow up on a previous paper.
Topic is in the pdf file.
There are two more questions:
1.This week’s readings all center on the topic of faith – so what do you think of the idea of faith? Is faith more of a belief, or an idea that we have, in a god-like being as Pascal suggests? Do you believe that Kierkegaard is right and that faith can only work as a deep, meaningful relationship with a god? Or is faith just a made up concept that misguides people?
2.What do you think of the problem of Evil? Is the existence of evil in the world enough to disprove that a loving, all-powerful god exists?
Do you side with Hume or with Hick? For the Humeans, which objection do you think is the strongest of his 4? For the Hick fans, do you think there are other, better replies out there, or has Hick really struck gold (so to speak)?
